CROYA
Middle School Program Information
Food.
Fun. Smash.
CROYA Middle School youth have the opportunity to attend a
Food. Fun. Smash. once a week – these can take place any Tuesday or
Thursday between 4-6pm and are usually one hour in length. Consult
the MS
Program Calendar
for specific dates and times this month. All 7th and 8th
grade Middle School students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood
are welcome to attend these gatherings. The gathering includes: a
game (you decide what we play: flying butts, sumo wresting, karaoke,
capture the flag etc.), food and updates on current activities including
services projects (this is how you get a free CROYA tee shirt!), field
trips (where should we go next?), dances (PLAN THEM) and community wide
events!!! If you are in Middle School and want to get more
involved in all CROYA has to offer come join the Food. Fun. Smash. crew!
Girl Teen Time (GTT)
Girl Teen Time (GTT) is a group for 7th and 8th
grade girls. It is designed to foster self esteem, help girls
maintain authentic connection with peers and adult women in their
community, counter trends toward self doubt, and allow for genuine
self-expression through verbal sharing and creative activities. Each
week a group of 8-12 girls take turns talking, listening and
expressing themselves further through creative or focused activities
such as journaling, movement, art and so on. Oftentimes, themes are
introduced which relate to the girls’ lives – such as being a girl,
trusting ourselves, friendships, body image, goals, competition and
decision making.
Girl Teen Time (GTT) seeks to, encourage the development of
strength, courage, confidence, honesty and communication skills for
girls. Our goal is to enhance girls’ abilities so they are able to
take full advantage of their talents, academic interests, and
potential for healthy relationships.
This
group is run by Caroline Hermes, CROYA Youth Worker and Jean
Odwazny, LCSW
