Frequently Asked Questions What is CROYA? Established in 1980, the Committee Representing Our Young Adults, known as "CROYA," is a year round, non-sectarian youth agency that meets the diverse needs our community's young adults from grades 7 - 12 -- providing leadership and life skills programs, weekly youth meetings, community service initiatives, retreats, social activities, and more. CROYA also meets needs of youth who struggle with issues such as peer relationships and a variety of other social, emotional, and psychological needs. CROYA successfully uses a group-process model for working with teenagers. Why is CROYA important to our youth and our community? CROYA is truly unique in that it provides an invaluable service to young adults that no other organization provides - it is truly for youth and run by youth. CROYA has been recognized as a model youth agency that serves as a prototype for other communities. For these reasons and others, CROYA is a value-added asset for our community - in terms of stature and property values. Do you have to join or pay fees to participate in CROYA? No, CROYA's regular programs are open to and free for all students of public and private schools in grades 7 - 12 who are residents of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood. There are sometimes additional fees for special programs such as field trips or retreats. Who runs CROYA? CROYA is run by trained adult youth workers in conjunction with the CROYA youth. Where is CROYA located? CROYA is connected to (on the north end) the Lake Forest Recreation Center, at 400 Hastings Road, and has its own entrance.
